Youth Fitness

A program designed to enhance motor skills development, fine-tune coordination and build confidence in the young.  It encourages physical fitness and promotes social development by providing group experiences.  Our goals are accomplished through games and gymnastics activities that allow every child to progress at their own pace.  The program is competitive only in that is challenges the child to finish each obstacle course.  This enables us to arrive at our major objective in the games - for each child to successfully perform and complete every activity and to begin a skill foundation for entering a disciplined gym class.  Specifically designed activities are performed on floor, bars, beam, rings, rope, vault, pommel horse, and trampoline.  We also work with juggling skills, balancing machines, balls, rope-jumping and parachute fun!

This program is very effective in building self-discipline and self-esteem.  It also helps children with short attention spans, with weight problems and those lacking in coordination when compared to their age group.  The timing, balance and self-confidence also enhances children's reading, handwriting and problem-solving skills.

Gymnastics

(Structured class for girls)

Recommended for students with adequate confidence and attention span to deal with the structure and discipline of the class.  Activities include tumbling, balance beam, un-even parallel bars and vaulting.  Each skill is presented in progression of difficulty.  Each student is responsible to perform only the skills taught in class.
A gymnast is promoted as her skill level on an individual basis.  We have incorporated a motivating program within the class organization to encourage children to work hard for promotion to the next level of instruction.  Physical strength and flexibility has a great influence on progress.  Other factors affecting progress are desire, concentration, kinesthetic sense and consistency.
The value of a gymnastics experience during the young and tender ages of 5 to 15 years of age is trememdous.  Nestled amond the sweat and tears is confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem!  The timing and balance gained carries over into all other athletic activities.
